Catching Up on the Story

Why (our essential question(s) of the day; why we're here): How does Golding use imagery to illustrate his perspective on human nature?

How (how we're going to work to answer the why): You'll work with a partner to write another two-chunk paragraph, this time relating Golding's understanding of human nature to the imagery in his book. You will be able to work together to make the best possible paragraph, and only turn in ONE paragraph between the two of you (so you're responsible for the success of each other).

What (what exactly you're going to do today; the agenda):
  1. Book Love Reading
  2. Partner Paragraph Writing
  3. Chapter 3/4/5 Review
  4. English Journal Writing

English Journal Writing:

Choose one of the quotes we looked at in class and answer the following questions in your English Journal.
  1. Who said it or who is it about?
  2. What is happening in the story when it is said or written?
  3. What does it tell you about that character?
  4. What is the quote’s significance? How does it connect to what Golding believes about human nature?

Homework:
  1. Study for your Vocab Quiz tomorrow.
  2. Finish your English Journal entry if you didn't finish in class today.
  3. Polish your partner paragraph. Have one person in your group submit it to turnitin.com by 9pm on Friday night (that's over 24 hours to get access to internet outside of class). If it's not submitted by then, it is late. I do not want a hard copy.
