Literary Devices and Such

Today's Goal: Begin to connect our understanding of rhetorical appeals to the literary devices we use to make those appeals.

Today's Agenda:

1. Read
2. Turn in your essay on turnitin.com (follow my directions. I need it done very specifically.)
3. Use our notes to begin to practice analysis of rhetorical appeals and devices using Socrative

Your homework includes:

Studying for your Vocab Root Test tomorrow
Finishing your Book Review and bring it to me on paper tomorrow. (you need to turn it in on Turnitin.com by midnight tomorrow or you will have a zero for the assignment).

Gradebook Explained

My grade book is on School Loop for you to view. There are some things you need to know that will hopefully clarify some things.

I = Incomplete, and may not be made up. An I is worth 30% of the total points available for an assignment. This is a department criteria and policy.

M = Missing, and should be made up or turned in for at least partial credit. The assignment is worth a zero until the work is completed.

Ab = Absent, and should be made up or turned in in a timely manner. The assignment is worth a zero until the work is completed.

Blank scores mean I have not graded it yet.

Zeroes occur when students do not turn in assignments that they are expected to submit. Regardless of when it is due, students are expected to complete the assignment.

Sometimes a score given on a minor assignment is not ideal. For students willing to put in the work, they are welcome to talk with me about redoing certain assignments.
